the other night I was down in the basement workshop and had the stereo going, and on came The Cars "Moving in Stereo". I realized that I cannot listen to that song without the image of Pheobe Cates emerging from a swimming pool, running as an endless loop in my head during the entire duration of the song. I want to thank Pheobe Cates and The Cars for that, it's something that I treasure.

Ah, Phoebe Cates. Such a beauty. Still beatiful, too.

it's funny how certain songs, as good as they are as simply music, can be so closely fused with visual imagery.

When I was about 12, or so, my big brother walked into my bedroom at about 5:30AM to wake me up, we had a paper route, cranked my stereo up to 11 and turned it on. "Love Will Keep Us Together" was on the radio. Till this day I can't hear that song without having to find the nearest restroom. Thankfully, that song is pretty much in the dustbin of Top 40 history.

I was a big Cars fan before that movie--Phoebe is just icing on the cake.
I remember their first tour, they came to Omaha and played *five* encores--they literally ran out of songs.
